One of my favorite things about photography is the huge variety of subjects with which I can work. Everything from landscapes that stretch on for miles to the tiniest details of a flower. As a way to explore a new genre, I took on a challenge in March to take and share a macro photo every day on Instagram. While I didn’t exactly follow the rules (I ended up taking photos in batches and sharing a few at a time), I did take and share 31 photographs of which I am very proud. Macro photography is still a relatively new subject for me, and there is a huge learning curve. I don’t plan to keep sharing macro photos every day, but they will certainly be popping up now and then.
These are a few of my favorites from the project.
This project not only helped me to hone my skills, it was the perfect project to start as winter continued to stretch on, because macro photography is easy to do indoors and outdoors. As an added bonus, it was a great excuse to keep fresh flowers in the house all month.
